The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of New Zealand condemns in the strongest possible terms Thursday’s terror act in Nice, in which 84 innocent lives were lost with many more critically injured.
“We are greatly saddened by the recent events in Nice, and wish to express our wholehearted solidarity with the people of France in these testing times. Our prayers and sympathies go out to all those who have lost their loved ones in this barbaric act”, said Mr Bashir Khan, the National President of the Ahmadiyya community in New Zealand.
“While the true motives behind the attack are yet to be confirmed, we want to emphasize that anyone familiar with the teachings of Islam knows that such actions are not representative of the true Islam. Indeed the Holy Quran says clearly that to take one innocent life is akin to killing the entire humanity. We pray that may Almighty Allah grant us the patience and means to stand up against these terrorist acts together, and help achieve lasting peace the world over”.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, fast-growing international revival movement within Islam. Founded in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in Punjab, India, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 206 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Its motto of ‘Love for all and hatred for none’ is evidenced through the peaceful actions of its millions of followers. The New Zealand branch of this community was established in 1987 and has just over 400 members. It is a registered charitable organisation and endeavors to be an active and integrated community within New Zealand society.
