Canada: McMaster's Humanity First students feed the homeless on Remembrance day

Humanity First’s branch at McMaster University paid tribute today, to those who put their lives on the line.

Over 40 students fanned out across the city in the spirit of service and volunteerism for the 4th annual Feed the Homeless campaign.

Pizza and beverages were distributed on the street and in shelters throughout Hamilton.

Regional coordinator Anser Daud says Remembrance day provides added significance to the initiative.

“The intention behind it is really to get students to experience… embody that passion of service work and the  volunteerism that our veterans so greatly demonstrate.”

The Feed the Homeless campaign set out to provide over 200 people a meal in one day.

The next initiative will to capitalize on the mandatory first year food plan.

Student representative for the program Zach Blatman says “if you don’t finish the money it just goes to waste.”

Humanity First will be encouraging students to spend any left over food credits on items that can be donated to shelters.
